Free yourself from the tyranny of
the power company.

Your roof is already collecting sunlight. Right now. Today. Tomorrow. Every day for the next 30 years. The only question is whether that sunlight becomes electricity you own — or whether you keep renting power from a utility that raises rates 3–5% every single year.

Solar isn't a science experiment anymore. It isn't a luxury. It isn't a political statement. It's math.

$45K–80K What the average DMV homeowner spends on electricity over 25 years at current rates.
Up to 80% How much Solar Solution DC customers cut that bill over the 25–30 year panel lifespan.
$0 Down How much you need to start today. Maryland and DC offer some of the most generous solar incentives in the country.

We're not selling panels. We're selling freedom from a bill that never stops. The sun shows up every morning whether you're ready or not. The only question is whether you're going to keep handing the utility company a blank check — or finally let your roof start working for you.

Three steps to energy freedom

No confusing contracts. No pressure. Just an honest conversation about what solar would do for your specific house, on your specific roof, with your specific utility bill.

Solar Solution DC installs. Savings begin.

Site survey to switched-on is typically 6–12 weeks, most of which is permitting and utility interconnection — we handle all of it. The actual install on your roof is usually 1–2 days. Then your bill drops.

18+ Years Experience Licensed & Insured 25-yr Panel Warranty GAF & CertainTeed Certified Roof Partner

Pick the one that fits your life

Every option below is fulfilled by Solar Solution DC. Same installers, same equipment, same 25-year panel warranty — just different ways to pay for it.

Most popular · $0/month in DC · Best for savings now

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)

The "I want savings without writing a check" option. A third-party financier owns the panels, installs them on your roof at zero cost. In DC, the locked rate for electricity your panels produce is $0 — meaning your solar bill is literally nothing every month. In Maryland and Virginia, you buy that electricity at a rate locked 20–30% below your current utility price from day one.

I want $0 down
  • Upfront cost: $0. Not a deposit. Not a soft fee. Zero. DC homeowners also pay $0/month — the electricity rate is locked at $0, made possible by the Federal Tax Credit going to the financier. MD & VA customers pay a discounted rate per kWh.
  • Most PPA customers save 15–30% from day one vs. their Pepco / BGE / Dominion bill
  • Solar Solution DC handles all monitoring, repairs, and inverter replacements
  • PPAs are fully transferable when you sell your home — we handle the paperwork
  • If your roof can't host panels for 25 years, we route you to Trusted Roof first

Trade-off: You don't own the panels, so the federal 30% tax credit and SRECs go to the financier. In DC, that credit is generous enough that the financier locks your electricity rate at $0/month. In MD and VA, it funds the $0 down — and your rate is still well below Pepco/BGE/Dominion.

Predictable · Fixed payment

Solar Lease

The "fixed monthly payment, no surprises" option. A leasing partner owns the panels. You pay a flat monthly lease instead of buying the power per kilowatt-hour. Your utility bill drops dramatically; your lease payment is predictable for the entire term.

Show me a lease quote
  • $0 upfront in most cases. Some leases offer a prepayment option for deeper savings
  • Monthly payment is locked — doesn't rise with utility rates, inflation, or anything
  • Typically 20–25 year terms, transferable at sale
  • Solar Solution DC and the leasing partner cover all repairs — fully
  • Best for homeowners who want payment predictability without tax paperwork

PPA vs. Lease: PPA = pay per kWh produced (variable, tracks sun). Lease = flat monthly (predictable, doesn't track sun). Same equipment, same install, different billing logic. Our team walks you through both with your actual usage history.

Own it · Max long-term return

Solar Loan

The "I want to own it, but not pay cash" option. You finance the system like a car loan — but this one pays you back every month. After the loan is paid off (usually 10–15 years), you have effectively free electricity for the remaining 15+ years of panel life.

Run the financing numbers
  • $0 down on most loan products. Solar Solution DC offers an in-house 12-month interest-free loan — pay it off with your tax refund
  • You own the system from day one: federal 30% tax credit is yours
  • SRECs (Solar Renewable Energy Credits) are yours to sell annually — in MD and DC, that's a meaningful check
  • Owned solar adds measurable value at resale
  • Terms: 10, 15, 20, or 25 years through partnered lenders — we model all of them

Trade-off: You're responsible for the loan even if you sell — though most loans are transferable or paid off at closing from the home's appreciated value.

Highest ROI · Full ownership

Full Purchase (Cash)

The "maximize my return on investment" option. You write a check. The system is 100% yours from the moment it switches on. Highest upfront cost, highest lifetime return — typically 3–5x your investment over 25 years.

I'm ready to buy outright
  • Full system price typically $15,000–$40,000 before incentives
  • After the 30% federal tax credit + DC/MD incentives + SREC sales, net cost is often dramatically lower than sticker
  • Most DMV cash buyers hit break-even in 6–9 years, then 15–20 years of near-free electricity
  • You keep everything: tax credit, SRECs, net metering credits, and the resale value increase
  • 25-year manufacturer warranty on panels; Solar Solution DC workmanship warranty on install

Best for: Homeowners with cash on hand who treat solar as what it actually is — a high-yield, low-risk, 25-year investment secured by your roof.

🏠

What if my roof isn't ready?

Roughly 1 in 4 homeowners who ask us about solar need roof work first. Old shingles, soft decking, or a roof with fewer than 10–15 years of life left isn't a great host for a 25-year solar system. That's why we partner with Trusted Roof — our sister company, locally owned, GAF & CertainTeed certified, serving the same DC / MD / VA territory. One coordinated project. Two specialist teams. No finger-pointing.

Everything you need to know

How much can I really save? +
Most DMV homeowners save 60–80% on electricity over the 25-year life of the system. Exact savings depend on your roof, your usage, and which of the four payment paths you choose. We'll model your actual numbers from your last 12 months of utility bills — free, no obligation.
What's the difference between PPA, Lease, Loan, and Cash? +
PPA = pay per kWh produced (no panel ownership). Lease = flat monthly (no panel ownership). Loan = financed purchase (you own it, you get tax credits). Cash = outright purchase (highest return). Full breakdown in the Solar Options section above.
Do I qualify for the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit? +
If you own the system (Loan or Cash), yes — assuming you have federal tax liability. PPA and Lease customers don't get the credit personally, but the financier passes savings through as lower rates. That's how they justify $0 down.
What about SRECs? +
Solar Renewable Energy Credits are tradable certificates you earn for every megawatt-hour your system produces. DC SRECs are among the most valuable in the country. Maryland SRECs are also strong. If you own the system, you sell them annually — typically thousands of dollars per year for a typical home system.
What if I sell my house? +
Owned systems add measurable value at resale. Leases and PPAs are transferable to the new homeowner — we handle the paperwork. Most financed systems are either transferred or paid off at closing from the home's appreciated value.
Do panels work during a power outage? +
Grid-tied panels shut off automatically for line-worker safety during outages. With battery storage (Enphase IQ or Tesla Powerwall), yes — you stay powered through outages. Ask us about battery options when you book your quote.
How long does installation take? +
Site survey to switched-on is typically 6–12 weeks, most of which is permitting and utility interconnection — we handle all of it. The physical install on your roof is usually 1–2 days.
Who actually installs my system? +
Solar Solution DC — same installers, same crew supervisors, regardless of which payment option you pick. Solarient handles the marketing and sales; Solar Solution DC does the physical work. Their address is 4700 14th St NW, Washington DC. Real building, real team.
